Why is air travel (due to pressure changes) not recommended for a certain period after filler or Botox treatments?

Air travel, especially during the first 24-48 hours after hyaluronic acid filler injections, can be risky due to changes in cabin pressure. Pressure fluctuations can affect microcirculation (capillary flow) in the body, maximizing edema formation. Furthermore, if there is microscopic pressure on a blood vessel (mild occlusion) that was not noticed during the procedure, the pressure change can further impair tissue oxygenation, increasing the risk of complications. With Botox, sudden pressure differences and constantly tilting the head forward can slightly increase the risk of drug diffusion. The safest course of action is to avoid flying for 48 hours after the procedure.
