Even if blackheads are removed, why do they keep reappearing in the same spot?

Update date: 8 January 2026

Blackheads are caused by sebum (oil) from pores oxidizing (darkening) upon contact with air. Your skin will produce oil as long as it’s alive. Therefore, blackheads aren’t something you can simply clean once and be done with. Regular cleansing and the use of salicylic acid-based products at home should be used to keep buildup under control.
