Why are swimming in the sea, pools, saunas, and solariums strictly prohibited for the first week after permanent makeup application?

Update date: 11 June 2026

In the first few days after the procedure, thousands of micro-open channels exist on the skin’s surface, making it completely susceptible to infection. Seawater, due to the microorganisms and salt it contains, can irritate and infect the skin; pool water, with its high chlorine content, can completely alter or fade the color of pigments that haven’t yet settled. High-temperature environments like saunas, steam rooms, and Turkish baths cause excessive sweating, leading to the dye being expelled from the pores. Solariums and direct sunlight, through the effect of UV rays, break down the chemical bonds of the pigments within seconds, causing the color to gray or disappear.
