Why should blood-thinning medications (such as Aspirin) be discontinued before needle-based procedures like Salmon DNA, Youth Vaccine, and Botox?

Update date: 11 June 2026

In medical aesthetic procedures, numerous micro-injections are made into the skin. Pain relievers containing aspirin and ibuprofen, green tea, high doses of vitamin E, or supplements like omega-3 prolong blood clotting time and thin the blood. Failure to discontinue the use of these substances for 3-5 days prior to the procedure causes blood to seep under the skin at each injection site, resulting in large, bruised hematomas that heal slowly. Bruises do not affect the outcome of the procedure but negatively impact social life and recovery comfort.
