Why is under-eye light filler different from regular facial fillers, and why can’t every filler be applied to the under-eye area?

Update date: 11 June 2026

The skin under the eyes is the thinnest (approximately 0.5 mm), most sensitive, and has the weakest lymphatic drainage in our body. If dense, highly cross-linked, and water-retaining fillers like those used in cheek or chin augmentation are injected here, the filler will draw in excessive water, causing chronic edema, puffiness, and a blue-gray discoloration (Tyndall effect) under the eyes. Under-eye light filler, on the other hand, contains hyaluronic acid with a fluid structure and very low cross-linking, deliberately reduced water retention capacity. Furthermore, thanks to its amino acids, antioxidants, and minerals, it nourishes the cellular structure and reduces dark circles under the eyes, providing a brighter appearance.
