In cases of “lumping” or “asymmetry” after lip filler treatment, how long should one wait and when should intervention be considered?

Lumps, hardness, and asymmetries seen in the first 7-10 days after lip filler injection are usually due to edema, bleeding (hematoma) from injection trauma, or the filler not yet having fully integrated with the tissue and bound to water. Immediate intervention with the filler during this period is incorrect. Gentle massages are recommended, and a two-week waiting period is necessary for the edema to completely resolve. If asymmetry or bothersome hard lumps still remain at the 14th-day follow-up, the surgeon who performed the filler injection can correct the asymmetry with minor adjustments or, if necessary, dissolve the lump with very local hyaluronidase.
