How should the laser hair removal process be managed in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)?

Update date: 11 June 2026

In individuals with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), the body constantly produces high levels of androgens (male hormones), causing dormant hair follicles to become continuously active. Laser hair removal is never a failure in these patients, but the process should be managed differently than in a normal individual. First, hormone therapy should be initiated under the supervision of an endocrinologist or gynecologist, and laser hair removal should be applied simultaneously while hormone levels are suppressed. These individuals may require more sessions, and instead of complete removal, the goal is to keep hair under control with “maintenance sessions.”
