While conventional chemical peels attempt to remove blemished cells by exfoliating the skin, Enzyme Peeling (Cosmelan/Dermamelan) blocks the skin’s blemish-producing mechanism at the cellular level. By suppressing the “Tyrosinase” enzyme, which causes blemish formation, it prevents melanocyte cells from producing excessive melanin (color pigment). The protocol begins with a mask (a layer with a soup-like consistency) applied by a physician in the clinic; this mask remains on the skin for 8-12 hours. This is followed by the use of special maintenance creams at home for months to support the process.
