Most of the time, this is a positive process. In this condition, called “purging,” sebum and bacteria waiting to be cleaned from beneath the skin are pushed to the surface by the process. This indicates that the skin is being cleansed from the bottom up. It usually resolves on its own within 1-2 weeks, leaving behind clean skin.
